Swords (feat. Dope Mine)

from You Don't Know Anything by Lucid Optics

about

When I first made the beat for this, I was planning on letting it sit in the archives for good. A couple of friends that make up Dope Mine (Es Dot and Yeah Kickz) were hanging out at my house, heard it, and we pretty much decided then that we wanted to tackle it. It was really fun planning it out with these guys, and we eventually decided we wanted each transition to the next rapper to get a little nastier. I don't think I would've fit anywhere but last on this one. It's about standing up to a problem or obstacle (maybe not the right way) and trying to stay focused.

lyrics

Es Dot:

Add an s to my words and they'll cut your tongue when spoken
Listen to my lesson take away this life token
It's hard to stand for something when both of your legs are broken
Last words of a samurai slipped away and can't be woken
They both fought with honor and the utmost respect
But when the dust settles only one can be left
That doesn't make it right but it happens none the less
Now these words don't hurt they put the blades to the test
Both fighting with a little something in their chest
But if you ask God neither one of them was blessed
He may have won the battle but he was still inside the war
And he asked himself what could he've done differently before

Yeah Kickz:

He should've listened to more folklore
It's most hard to separate a man from a myth
A legend in control of elements you can hardly feel a sword
Only hear a whiff
Gone with the wind or here a vengeance
Swinging through the sky send your head to the heavens
Watch your soul tremble before the presence of a whole blacker than the resin in this bowl
Blacker than the next gun to show
But if the shogun pulls is sword
Oh lord you better pray for a bullet hole
Life's too short to be slain by a criminal
Cut his throat
Find the truth in the subliminal then find the body at the bottom of the swimming hole
Say hello to a soul so giant that death ain't even dying
It just frees the giant

Lucid Optics:

Nothing short of horrifying
Visioning the sword of Ryan scissoring a horde of lions
He's a master with the blade skill
Rain's still polar giving whole earth a brain chill
The snow was stained blood color
Swords cut flesh turn his life force to rubber under cover
They found the stipulations aren't many
The honor fades quickly when the bloodshed's getting heavy
It's all that remains in the levy
Sneak peaks
His reflection stares back like dead meat
Now his lying eyes troubled
Acting like they aren't so scared they're seeing doubles of a man that made villages once stand to sand and rubble and keeps the fingertips of adversaries in a duffle
Never lost too many scuffles
One cut deep but he was able to rebuttal
Chatter gets muffled like the crowd's got a muzzle
Only after having to witness a man struggle for his life
Couldn't reach his chi energy
He was blocked by opponent
Syphoned all his focus
Some call it bogus, others call it hocus pocus
He's a master of environment with combat quotients
Practiced till the outcome is nothing short of magic
Build their own walls and didn't realize they could grab it themselves

All out assault upon the enemy
The Jolteon is lighting up his skull beyond complexion that is mostly on the cheeks and sees the light like it's a holy bomb
His mind leaks petroleum and holds a match like he's a bully's son
One man dead
The other now fled from the only people left that saw a bounty on his head
Hopefully forgiven for bringing death to the living
Unless the guilt piles up to make his own clock stop ticking
